sharon nelson - the leader
Trailblazing a new way of leadership through creative business innovation and the empowerment of people
Sharon Nelson is a tenacious, ambitious, and visionary leader and consultant with a deep passion for developing projects and creating opportunities that empower individuals and fosters community growth and resilience. She is currently leading a large and ground breaking social enterprise project in Torbay designed to maximise time, money and resources in supporting the local economy across all sectors. Designed with social value at its heart, it’s overall purpose as a commercial events and promotional space is to provide empowerment, opportunity and growth for all. With personal and business coaching at its foundation, its aim is to enhance the health and wellbeing of all who visit and engage.
Sharon moved to Devon twelve years ago and using purely her intuitive knowing that she needed to be there, she founded “Heart of Torbay”, a high street commercial environment which provided a welcoming and inclusive space for local traders, service providers and ultimately anyone seeking support for mental and emotional wellbeing. After two years, she transitioned Heart of Torbay into a Community Interest Company, laying the foundation for her current large-scale social enterprise project. Fast forward and with seven long years of research under her belt, diving deep into how the Voluntary, Charitable and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector runs, looking into local administration practices, statutory services, NHS services, business support, networks and more, the ‘People’s Project’ was borne: A project that is destined to change the face of local economy, growth and social value across many towns and cities nationwide.
"Good leaders make people feel that they’re at the very heart of things, not at the periphery"
With a strong background in business development, management and leadership, Sharon worked in high-level corporate roles before relocating to Devon. Her experience spans diverse sectors from leading a team in KPMG’s Restructuring department to overseeing an international administrative team at GlaxoSmithKline where she managed luxury hospitality services for overseas visitors. Sharon’s professional journey has always been defined by her ability to lead with integrity, foster collaboration and inspire those around her to achieve their best.
Sharon’s dedication to personal and professional development is evident through her own extensive training and coaching credentials. Accredited with distinction by the Institute of Leadership & Management, Sharon’s coaching expertise has not only benefited numerous businesses and organizations across London, the South East and South West but also young apprentices within a local Council where she coached and mentored them in business administration, leadership and customer service; more often than not coaching them out the door as they didn’t want to be there and their passions and skills where more suited to another sector!

sharon nelson - the person
Beyond Sharon’s professional achievements, she is deeply committed to holistic well-being and personal growth. For over a decade she has explored ascension meditation, spiritual growth and intuitive focus, attending workshops with renowned experts in their field such as Tony Stockwell, Sandy Newbigging and David Hamilton to name just a few. Sharon has also expanded her expertise in holistic therapies, earning diplomas in Reiki, Thai Foot Massage and other eastern energy practices. All of these practices have helped her to explore, enable and offer healing and wellbeing to those seeking peace, relaxation and balance.
Sharon’s journey to personal fulfilment has been far from linear. After a successful career in corporate administration and management, she reached a point where she felt disconnected from her true purpose. This led her to pursue life and business coaching as a vocation, founding her first self-employed business, “Make It Happen.” However, the pressures of building a business while navigating personal challenges which included managing a life-long disability, Sharon had to take a step back and take time to reconnect with her own needs and values. This period of reflection and healing ultimately brought her to where she is today; a leader dedicated to helping others find their own unique path to success and well-being.
Sharon’s story is one of resilience, self-discovery and a relentless commitment to creating a better world for herself and those around her. Whether through her social enterprise work, leading, consultancy or coaching, Sharon is driven by a desire to empower others to live their best lives, embrace their uniqueness and find balance in mind, body and spirit. Her journey continues to inspire those she works with, offering hope, guidance and the belief that anything is possible.
In a nutshell, Sharon is passionate about empowering people; she’s tenacious when it comes to her own life purpose and is very clear on her values of fairness, integrity and authenticity. As a conversationalist and coach, she has been called a ferret! Why a ferret? She will stop at nothing in getting to the truth – whether that’s supporting an individual in them getting to the heart of who they are or asking questions to get to the truth of a situation within a business or organisational setting. Sharon is extremely intuitive and perceptive. Nothing can be hidden forever; the truth always finds its way to the surface!
